All funds raised from Walk a Mile Event directly support the YWCA Sudbury’s “Turning Point Programs for Women”. The Walk a Mile event makes it possible for us to provide support services for women and children escaping intimate partner abuse, and prevention programs for girls aged 12 to 16.
Our Turning Point Programs for women and young women are designed to help women and families navigate ‘critical points’ in their lives – giving them the tools, resources an support to move through crisis and make lasting change.
All funds raised from the Walk a Mile Event help YWCA Sudbury provide the turning point that can improve lives forever.
Thank you for making our community stronger, one life at a time.
FAQ
Do I really have to walk a mile in heels?
While you do have to walk in heels, the distance is not a mile.
Do I need to bring my own high heel shoes?
If you have found a pair that fit, go ahead and wear them. If you haven’t, we will provide the heels – just tell us your men’s shoe size at the point of registration. Please arrive no later than 10:30 the event date for shoe fitting.
How many pledges do I need?
There is no limit to the number of pledges you can get. In order to march in the red shoes and receive a free t-shirt, you must raise a minimum of $100 in pledges. Everyone who pledges over $10 will receive a charitable tax receipt, so please be sure to get their full name and mailing address.
What happens if it rains?
In the event of a significant downpout, we will march inside Civic Square.
I am going to be out of town on the event date, how can I support?
Busy or out of town on the event date? No problem! Make a donation or reach your fund raising goal and ‘delegate’ a friend to walk for you. You can also sponsor a walker (link to sponsor page).
